The Spanish red wine Rolland Galarreta Ribera del Duero is crafted by none other than Michel Rolland, considered by many the world's most influential winemaker.
This red wine is made from a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15 % Merlot. The grapes come from vines above 35 years old owned by Bodegas Valtravieso. The vines grow in poor, rocky-limestone soils located at an altitude of 915 metres above sea level.
Carefully harvested and selected, the grapes of this red crafted by the Rolland Galarreta winery were destemmed, cold-soaked and crushed in a bladder press.
Fermented and macerated with frequent pump-overs and punch-downs, Rolland Galarreta 2014 was then transferred into French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 10 months.
Not filtered before its bottling, the wine spent a further 4 months in the cellar prior to its release.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
Drink now through 2022.
This Spanish red wine Rolland & Garreta Ribera del Duero 2014 has a bright, medium-high, crimson-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
This blend of Tempranillo & Merlot by the Rolland Galarreta winery shows intense notes of spices, ripe cherries and a delicate lavender remembrance. Some touches of leather, toast, tobacco and exotic spices.
This Spanish red wine from Ribera del Duero is bold and powerful, but with a silk glove. Notions of ripe berries, a touch of liquor-soaked fruit, sweet spices and some floral overtones. Velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a long, persistent finish.

You can really see the French touch in this wine. Sometimes Riberas are a little harsh or dry on the palate, but this is all silk and smoothness. Incredibly well made, with fresh fruit and a long ending.
