The little-known Sang de Corb is a Spanish red wine produced in the southern Catalonian region of Terra Alta, a place with blisteringly hot summers and bitterly cold winters.
This wine is made from a blend of Grenache, Hairy Grenache and Carignan coming from a single estate, Dellà del Riu, comprised of vineyards over 65 years old. The estate is located in a pristine environment, and it is surrounded by almond, apple and olive-trees.
Produced by the exceedingly interesting Celler Frisach, a company with an uncompromising approach to winemaking, the wine was traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After that, this organic red wine from Terra Alta was aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels.
This is an utterly Mediterranean, exultantly solar, radical wine.
Decant Sang de Corb 2016 a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Drink now until 2024.
The red wine Sang de Corb has a clean, very bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.
This expressive estate red wine by Celler Frisach has a truly appealing nose. Fragrant notions of red fruit, alongside some citric touches, some floral nuances, a dash of dry earth, notes of undergrowth and dim toasted nuances over a seductive mineral background.
Bold and immensely vital, this Crianza red wine from Terra Alta has a powerful entrance balanced by a tense acidity and a great freshness. Enticing notes of red berries over a mineral background and a panoply of Mediterranean herbs. Mild tannins and a very long, gently mineral finish.
|Our personal opinion||
The radically honest Sang de Corg 2016 performs excellently right now. However, it will surely acquire a deeper level of complexity over the next 3-4 years.

A truly nice wine, sort of "peasant wine 2.0". Very pure and well balanced. Check out the rest of the wines of this producer.
