Details

Produced by the Sierra Cantabria winery, owned by the Eguren brothers, Sierra Cantabria Crianza is a true classic from La Rioja.

Made solely from Tempranillo, the grapevines grow in clay-limestone soils with very low levels of organic matter. Farmed following environmentally friendly procedures, the vineyards of this Spanish red wine are located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida.

The grapes were first harvested by hand and selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Then they were destemmed and gently crushed, after which the resulting wine must was macerated and fermented with indigenous yeasts.

Finally, Sierra Cantabria Crianza 2016 was aged for 14 months in used French and American oak barrels. During that period, it was racked every 4 months.

Drink this Rioja Crianza from now until 2023.

Additional Information

Appearance

The wine Sierra Cantabria Crianza has a nice, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with some ruby tinges and a brick-red rim.

Nose

Some fragrant aromas of wild berries, typical of a Tempranillo from La Rioja, alongside spices, some lactic touches and notes of vanilla, roasted coffee, cocoa and balsam.

Palate

Pleasant and palate-coating, this wine of the Sierra Cantabria winery has an excellent balance and a very precise acidity. Ripe red fruit, pleasant notions of spices, some mineral undertones and savoury tannins. This Crianza by the Eguren brothers has a medium-long, delicately bitter finish.

Our personal opinion

Fresher and yummier than ever, Sierra Cantabria Crianza 2016 is a wise buy.
