Labeled as VT Mallorca, the exquisite Sòtil is an organic Spanish red wine  and produced by the Mesquida Mora winery.

The wine has been crafted from the indigenous variety Callet, complemented with a touch of Pinot Noir.

The grapes were organically farmed, following biodynamic principles and the traditional almanac lunar cycle. The vineyard is provided with a natural vegetation cover which helps to protect the plants. The vines are also fertilized by natural mulches from the area containing native minerals. This biodynamic fertilizer is also infused with medical herbs to help boost the strength of the roots.

The harvest of this red wine from Mallorca was carried out by hand. After that, the grapes were separately macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks according to its variety.

After malolactic fermentation was completed, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels where it was aged for 12 months.

The production of Sòtil 2015 was limited to 4,000 bottles.

Drink until 2022. Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information

The red wine Sòtil has a cherry-coloured body with a ruby rim.

This organic and biodynamic red wine from Mallorca exudes sophistication. Intense vegetable and ripe red fruit sensations, notes of cinnamon, fennel and sandalwood, and enticing tips of liquorice and red flowers.

This blend of Callet and Pinot by Mesquida Mora is fresh and intense. Sensations of forest berries, delicate balsamic hints, suggestions of spices (cinnamon, fragrant Jamaican peppers), perfectly ripe tannins, sweet and very pleasant, and a good acidity. Long finish that is smooth and pleasant with, again, a touch of Jamaican pepper.

Our personal opinion

A trailblazer, Sòtil 2015 leads the new wave of Majorcan wines which aim to express the great potential of the island's native grapes.

  1. sotil review by Wine judge on 6/8/2018

Majorcan wines are getting closer. They're not there already, but the goal is near. This is excellent but, come on, forget Pinot and let Callet speak for itself. It needs no crutches.

This is a refined wine. Subtle palate and lots of finesse. Very enjoyable.
