Manually harvested and carefully transported to the cellar, once there the grapes were put into stainless steel tanks, where they were cold-soaked for a period of 2 days.
Then they were spontaneously fermented, and the wine must was left in contact with its lees for 17 days to increase its creaminess and roundness.
After that, this old-vines Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged for 15 months in new 50% French and 50% American oak barrels.
Finally, Tinto Figuero 15 Meses 2014 was clarified with egg whites and aged for a further 21 months in the bottle before its commercial release.
We suggest that you decant this reserve red wine from Ribera del Duero at least 1 hour before you drink it.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.
The red wine Tinto Figuero 15 Meses has a very bright, clean, high cherry-coloured robe with a reddish rim.
A bit reduced at the beginning, as this Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero opens it shows a great complexity, with notes of ripe black fruit, sweet spices and a dash of white pepper. Later, we perceive aromas of cocoa, liquorice, graphite, charcoal, balsam, menthol and resin, as well as some mineral undertones and notions of wet earth.
Bold and complex, this reserve red wine by Bodegas y Viñedos García Figuero has depth, character and potential for improvement. Pure suggestions of black fruit, spices, earth and balsam. Deep and powerful, with great tension, a fresh acidity and slightly untamed tannins that will mellow within a few years. Long, persistent, mineral finish.
|Our personal opinion||
The old-vines Tempranillo Tinto Figuero 15 meses 2014 is complex, age-worthy and elegant. Perfect to accompany a substantial meal, but also great as a meditation wine.
