Born in Ribera del Duero in a vintage qualified as "Excellent", Tinto Figuero Viñas Viejas is a remarkable Tempranillo wine made from estate-owned, over-60-year-old vineyards located in some of the best terroirs of the region.
The vineyards are planted over 800 metres above sea level. They are composed of sand and clay.
Produced by the Bodegas y Viñedos García Figuero winery, the grapes were harvested in little boxes and meticulously vinified.
Spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks and macerated for 14 days, Tinto Figuero Viñas Viejas 2015 subsequently completed malolactic fermentation.
After that, this Spanish red wine was aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels.
Clarified with egg whites, it was further aged for 12 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
Drink this red wine from Ribera del Duero until 2027.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.
The red wine Tinto Figuero Viñas Viejas has a very bright, clean, dense, high cherry-coloured robe with a crimson rim.
This old-vines Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero is remarkably complex and deep. Intense notes of red and black fruit, along with notions of spices, graphite, liquorice, cocoa, bitter chocolate and toast. Deep mineral undertones mingled with fresh earthy notions.
A meaty and silky red wine by Bodegas y Viñedos García Figuero. Nice entrance onto the palate, with substantial volume and complexity. Velvety tannins, well-balanced acidity and long finish with remembrances of mulberries, balsam, spices and subtle wooden notes.

Dense and deep at first, even imposing. After a while, however, it becomes a pure delight.
A full-blodied Ribera, still young but already very promising. Smooth tannins and a great nobility of character.
