We are proud to present a truly arcane, almost unknown high-end Spanish red wine from Priorat.
The red wine Triaca was crafted by winemaker Santi Puig in his tiny, super traditional winery Ca L’Apotecari in Porrera.
It is made from a blend of Grenache and Merlot coming from one single estate, named "Los Perers". It is located at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level and oriented to the northeast, a fact that keeps the vines sheltered from excessive heat and allows the grapes to ripen slowly and steadily.
More specifically, the Grenache is located at the highest point of the estate, while the Merlot is nestled in a little, shadowy area.
The grapes were separately harvested at dusk in a single day. Selection of the fruit was carried out on site.
Once in the Ca L’Apotecari de Porrera winery, the grapes were cooled for 24 hours, meticulously destemmed and macerated for 2 days.
After that, the temperature was allowed to rise slowly until alcoholic fermentation started by itself, no artificial yeasts added.
After being macerated for 15 days, the grapes were pressed and transferred into 5th and 6th year French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 18 months.
Finally, Triaca 2013, belonging to the category Vi de la Vila de Porrera, was cool-stabilized, bottled and aged for a minimum of 18 months in the bottle before its release.
Production is very limited: 4,095 bottles.
Decant 2 hours before drinking and then enjoy its spectacular evolution in the glass.
Drink until 2025.
Triaca 2013 has an intense cherry colour with a garnet rim.
This red wine Triaca made from Grenache and Merlot is deep and full of richness and nuance. Marvellously balanced aromas of red and black fruit, spices, cocoa, toast and coffee, alongside remembrances of dry herbs and Mediterranean garrigue over an enticing mineral background.
Bold, resounding and very intense. Liquor-infused fruit, underbrush, spices and amazing mineral and earthy sensations. Meaty and velvety, with a good acidity and mild, bridled tannins. This Crianza red wine of the Ca L’Apotecari winery from Porrera is very long, with a spellbinding finish

I'm a Priorat nut, so when I discovered this hard-to-find red I literally jumped on it. One hour after you open it, the whole room smells of earth and black slate. It is massive and corpulent, but not tiresome because of the freshness. If you love Priorat, this is the real thing.
