Details Tridente Tempranillo 2009

This is a Spanish red wine, Tempranillo, from Castilla-León, produced by the Triton winery. The Tempranillo grapes used to craft this wine come from this winery´s very own grape vines that are very old and situated in the sub-regions of Villanueva de Campeán and El Pego in the Zamora province of Castilla-León. The soils in these regions are full of gravel and above large plates of sand. All of the grapes used in this wine were picked and selected by hand before arriving to the winery. The yields for this year were low, 3.3-4.5 lbs. (1.5-2 Kg) per grape vine. These grapes were harvested during hours of the day with low light, as well as low temperatures.
These grapes were destemmed and transferred into stainless steel vats covered by cold chilling blankets where they macerated at a constant 50 ºF (10 ºC). After maceration, there was a delicate fermentation that lasted about three weeks; the specific time was determined by the enologists when they believed the liquids had achieved their peak aromatic extraction. The bleeding process was very smooth and gentle to provide for a higher quality wine. Through a delicate pumping process these liquids were then transferred into French oak barrels where they received malolactic fermentation and an ageing period of 15 months.
This wine has very good acidity on the palate that is very inviting and full of fruit. This is a must try wine.

This excellent Spanish Tempranillo wine has a cherry red colored body with garnet edges. There is a high level of layering and a tear that lightly stains the glass.

This aged Spanish Tempranillo, Tridente, is very aromatic, with ripe fruits, and smoked notes. Slowly, as this wine opens to the air, we begin to sense balsamic notes, black liquorices, and expressive spices (cloves, paprika, vanillas, cinnamon, and black peppers).

This wine has a potent passage through the palate that is meaty, filled with expressive fruits, and accompanied with some semi-sweetness along great acidity. The finish is toasty and this entire palate is well representative of its nose with great vanilla, chocolate, and paprika notes. Overall this wine has an intensive palate, and with its Tempranillo, this is a powerful and enveloping wine.
