The grapes come from 25-year-old vines grown in the calcareous, fossil-rich soils of the Garraf Massif, a region belonging to the DO Penedès.
Picked by hand and transported to the cellar into 15 kg. boxes, after two selection processes the grapes were cold-macerated in open vats at a controlled temperature, after which the wine completed alcoholic fermentation.
Then Turó de les Abelles 2016 was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. After blending the best samples, the wine was bottled and aged for some time in the cellar before its release onto the market.
We recommend that you decant this organic red wine from Penedès at least 30 minutes before you drink it. Drink through 2025.
This truly is a limited-edition wine. Only 2,000 bottles produced.
The organic red wine Turó de les Abelles has a medium-high cherry robe with a garnet rim.
This blend of Grenache and Syrah has a good balance between intense notes of ripe, almost jammy black fruit - blackberries and blackcurrants - and some deep, mineral undertones coming from the ancient marine soil of the Garraf Massif, a very characteristic area within the DO Penedès. After a while, the wine insinuates some notes of spices, flowers and hints of dry undergrowth.
|Palate||With an exhilarating palate, this organic red wine by Finca Viladellops has a crisp body and a solid structure. Texture is supple and agile, with juicy red fruit, liquorice, Mediterranean underbrush and some well-integrated spicy notes. Tannins are ripe and sweet, and acidity is rock-solid. Delicate finish with some enticing mineral remembrances and subtle wooden notes.|

A crisp red wine from an unlikely place. I like the flinty minerality. Great!
Sen-sa-tio-nal wine. Pure, enticing and deeply mineral, this must grow in a first-class terroir to be this good.
