This wine has gained a considerable recognition over the last years. In fact, its blue label decorated with a silver leaf has already become a quality trademark.
The grapes of this Spanish red wine come from low-yielding vines located in the Rioja Alta area which are farmed following sustainable agricultural practices and environmentally friendly procedures.
The 2011 harvest was an early one because of the drought. Harvested by hand, the grapes were selected on site and, once in the cellar, they were destemmed and fermented in concrete vats.
After that, this Reserve red wine was transferred into French and, for the first time, Caucasian oak barrels, where it was aged for 18 months. After that, it was aged for a further 12 months in concrete vats.
Decant Valenciso Reserva 2011 a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.

The red wine Valenciso Reserva has an intense, high cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
Complex, expressive, very pure, this wine by Bodegas Valenciso is reminiscent of liquorice, spices and blackberry jam, with some nuances of balsam, underbush, charcoal and dim mineral hints.
Serious and well-crafted, this Tempranillo from La Rioja shows a great balance between a first-class fruit and a judicious use of oak. Lively acidity, sweet, savoury tannins and long finish with remembrances of spices and balsam.

A nice piece of work, full of subtleties, Valenciso Reserva 2011 has a remarkable ageing potential.
