Details

Produced by Bodegas y Viñedos de La Marquesa, Valserrano Reserva is made from a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano.
Made from grapevines around 50 years of age, the 2012 vintage of this Spanish red wine from DOCa Rioja was a difficult one, with little rain and production below average.
Harvested by hand and meticulously selected, the grapes were first destemmed and then cold-macerated before alcoholic fermentation. After that, this Reserve red wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Then Valserrano Reserva 2012 was aged for 24 months in French and American oak barrels.
Finally, the wine was bottled and aged for a further months in stainless steel tanks to fully assemble its components.
Decant this red wine from La Rioja 30 minutes before drinking.
This wine will seriously improve in the bottle. Drink now until 2027.

Additional Information

Appearance

The red wine Valserrano Reserva has a medium-high, cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.

Nose

A deep, mature blend of Tempranillo and Graciano, with some complex, intense notes of leather, toast and black fruit that give way to a display of spices, some lactic touches, balsamic notions and aromas of undergrowth and mineral.

Palate

Silky tannins, very good acidity and a great freshness. This Reserva by Valserrano is bold and complex, with the enticing taste of a good old Rioja. Hints of undergrowth, mineral, black fruit, Havanna cigars and spices. Long, creamy finish.

Our personal opinion

Bold and expressive, Valserrano Reserva 2012 is a great match for hearty dishes and substantial meals.
