Made from the same composition as its white counterpart, Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé Brut is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 7% Pinot Meunier, all coming from vineyards classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The difference between both wines is that this Champagne rosé is blended with a red wine; specifically, between a 12% and 18% of a Pinot Noir Grand Cru from Bouzy. This, by the way, was an innovation introduced in 1818 my Madame Clicquot. Contrary to the rest of Champagne producers, she decided to produce her rosé not through maceration of a red variety with the wine must, but through blending the base white wines with a red wine.
Produced only in exceptional vintages, Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé Brut 2008 is meticulously vinified and aged for a minimum of 5 years before its commercial release. Interestingly, this rosé sparkling wine from Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin winery was the first Champagne ever exported.
This rosé Champagne has a nice salmon colour with some grey tinges. Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé Brut has tiny bubbles.
The nose of this rosé Champagne is wonderfully elegant and suggestive. Aromas of wild berries, intertwined with notes of toast, honey, herbs, and violets. Complex and ever-changing, after a while we smell delicate aromas of candied fruit, figs and baked bread.
Smooth and seductive, Veuve Clicquot Vintage enters gently onto the palate, showing an amazing balance between a lively core of fruit and the effortless elegance of a first-class Champagne. Excellent definition and focus, with plenty of nuance and complexity. Fresh and vinous, with caressing bubbles, this rosé from Veuve Clicquot has a long, delicious finish,
