This is an remarkable Spanish red wine solely made from Tinta de Toro.
Produced by the Teso La Monja winery, Victorino is a wine by the prestigious Eguren family, known for their excellent job at wineries such as Sierra Cantabria, Señorío de San Vicente and Viñedos de Páganos.
Made from estate-owned vineyards 45 to 100 years of age planted in clayey soils with a sandy substratum, first the grapes underwent a manual harvest and an exacting selection process.
Then they were destemmed and gently crushed. After that, this red wine from Toro was fermented with gentle pump-overs and macerated for 21 days on lees.
Then Victorino 2015 from Toro completed malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and was aged for 20 months. During the process, the wine was racked every 4 months.

The red wine Victorino has an intense and bright cherry color with some violet tinges.
Very elegant, this Tinta de Toro has a deep mineral character. Terroir-oriented and intriguing, this crianza red wine suggests exuberant aromas of red and black fruit, notes of Eastern spices and some earthy notions and suggestions of flowers and underbrush.
Expressive, meaty, and very intense. This wine by Teso la Monja is flavorful, detailed and quite elegant, with an slowly emerging complexity that will unfurl over the next years. Victorino from Toro fills the mouth with succulent fruits, a peacock's tail of seductive spices, an ever present minerality and a deep sense of terroir. Excellent acidity, with well integrated tannins and a persistent finish.

Now, this is a serious wine. Bold, but quite transparent, showing a direct link to the land. Lush, smooth blueberries, violets, spices and herbs. I think it will reach its peak in 4-5 years.
