We are proud to introduce the first vintage of Viña Arana Gran Reserva, a wine which completes the collection of Gran Reservas produced by La Rioja Alta, alongside the legendary Gran Reserva 890 and Gran Reserva 904.
This Gran Reserva completed both fermentations in stainless steel tanks. After that, this red wine from La Rioja was transferred into 3rd year American oak barrels built in the winery's own cooperage, and aged for 3 years. During the process, Viña Arana Gran Reserva 2012 was racked every 6 months.
Finally, the wine was blended on March 2016, and subsequently aged until May 2019 in the winery's facilities.
This Rioja Gran Reserva will be produced only in exceptional vintages.
This first vintage has a production around 80,000 bottles.
Aerate 1 hour before drinking.
The Spanish red wine Viña Arana Gran Reserva has a bright cherry colour with a garnet rim.
Intense aromatic expression. This wine made from Tempranillo and Graciano smells of cherries and damson, intertwined with notes of cinnamon, vanilla, toffee and moka. Hints of Havanna cigars and Moroccan leather impart an old-school charm to Viña Arana Gran Reserva, which also suggests some toasted and smokey notions.
Intense and surprisingly fresh considering its being a Gran Reserva from La Rioja, the wine has a remarkable balance and an excellent definition, with succulent black fruit, a balsamic and earthy note, and some spicy and floral nuances. Acidity is first-class, and the tannins of this Gran Reserva from La Rioja Alta are as smooth as silk. Long finish.
