Volver 2014, by Jorge Ordóñez, is a varietal Spanish red wine made from grapes coming from old Tempranillo vines.
The vines were planted in 1957 in sandy, red-clayed, poor soils in the central Spanish region of La Mancha, the land of Don Quijote.
Produced by the Bodegas Volver winery, the grapes were manually harvested and selected at the vineyard.
After a traditional vinification process, malolactic fermentation and ageing was carried out in new French oak barrels. The process took 15 months to complete.
The wine was not filtered prior to its bottling.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
Drink now to 2023.
Volver has a medium-high, dark cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.
Made from old vines, this Spanish red wine from La Mancha has a deep, terroir-oriented character. Pristine aromas of red fruit compote, fresh black fruit and rich hints of spices. Creamy and smoky remembrances and a deep balsamic note. Notions of underbush and wet earth.
Crafted with care and precision, this varietal Tempranillo by Bodegas Volver-Jorge Ordóñez enters the mouth gracefully and fills it with notes of balsam, underbush and fruit. Well-structured, with lively tannins and a good, persistent finish. Interesting ageing potential.
