This is the new vintage of Volver, a single varietal Spanish red wine made from old, low-yielding Tempranillo grapevines. They were planted in 1957 in sandy, red-clayed, poor soils in the central Spanish region of La Mancha.

Produced by Bodegas Volver, a company belonging to the Jorge Ordóñez Group, the grapes were manually harvested and selected at the vineyard.

After a conventional vinification in stainless steel tanks, this red wine from La Mancha completed malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, where it was also aged for 15 months. It was bottled unfiltered.

Decant Volver 2016 30 minutes before drinking.

Additional Information

The red wine Volver has a medium-high, dark cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.

Made from old vines, this Crianza red wine has a deep, terroir-oriented character. Pristine aromas of fresh black fruit, typical of Tempranillo, with some hints of spices. Creamy and smoky remembrances and a deep balsamic note, evolving into notions of aromatic herbs and wet earth.

Crafted with care and precision, this Crianza red wine from Bodegas Volver enters the mouth gracefully, filling it with notes of balsam, underbrush and fruit. Well-structured, with lively tannins and a good, persistent finish. Interesting ageing potential.

Our personal opinion

Characteristic and easier to drink than one might think considering its long ageing, Volver 2016 is an astounding value.

Quite good. Earthy and spicy. One sort of feels the soil. Good producer.
