Bodegas Atalaya

Bodegas Atalaya

The Bodegas Atalaya winery is a brand of the Orowines group that strives to create wines that express the remarkable qualities of the Alicante Bouschet (Garnacha Tintorera) and Monastrell grapes grown in Mediterranean terroirs.

Owned by the Gil family, the Bodegas Atalaya winery is located in the province of Albacete, 3 Km from Almansa, and belongs to the Almansa DO. As with all of Orowines' brands, the Bodegas Atalaya winery is comitted to producing terroir-oriented wines.

The vineyards are located at an altitude of 800 Meters above sea level, and are grown in soils composed of limestone. The region has a continental micro-climate softened by the delicate breezes from the Mediterranean Sea. All of the wines produced by the Bodegas Atalaya winery are red wines. They are crafted from the native grape varieties Alicante bouschet (Garnacha Tintorera) and Monastrell (Mourvèdre).

The aged red wine by the Bodega Atalaya winery, Atalaya 2009, took 54th place, with a rating of 90/100, in the Wine Spectator's 2012 TOP 100 “Annual Roundup of the year's most exciting wines”, a list made by Neal Martin and Robert Parker, two of the world's most respected wine critics.
