The Batlle family, owner of the Gramona winery, has been producing wine in Sant Sadurní d´Anoia, the capital of the Cava D.O., since 1881. Now, following the path of ingenuity and boldness traced more than a century ago by their predecessors, a new generation of the Batlle family runs the winery with renewed passion.
The winery has 150 hectares of grapevines spread out through 15 unique vineyards. The grapes are grown with extreme care to achieve the highest quality. Since the year 2001, all the vinification and ageing processes are performed at Celler Batlle, a new building provided with state-of-the-art technology. The new facilities of the gravity-flow winery are situated underneath a mountain.
Today, all Cavas being produced by the Gramona winery are aged Cavas. “Viti, Vini, Vitae. Verum Cava” is the Batlle family saying, which can be translated into English “from the grape, to the wine, to our life. True Cava” This is why the Gramona Cavas are in a class of their own. In fact, the Gramona winery produces some of the most critically acclaimed and highest quality sparkling wines in the world today. Cavas such as Gramona III Lustros and Gramona Celler Batlle, the jewel of the crown.
As for the still wines, one of Gramona's best creations is Sauvignon Blanc, a Spanish white wine from the Penedès D.O. Additionally, the winery produces a dessert wine called Gra a Gra from Pinot Noir grapes that is a bliss for the senses.
