Product Description
Details

This is the new vintage of the wine Botani Moscatel Seco, also known as Botani Moscatel Old Vines, crafted by the prestigious Jorge Ordóñez & Co winery.

Interestingly, this Spanish white wine is the first dry varietal Moscatel de Alejandría (Muscat of Alexandria) produced in DO Sierras de Málaga.

The grapes come vines 70-years-old on average, planted in the Axarquía region. This is a remote, almost inacessible area located right in the heart of the Málaga mountains. The plants grow in very poor, decomposed slate soils, and some of them are over 100 years old.

Harvest started in July and lasted until mid October. Meticulously selected, the grapes were transported to the cellar by mules. Then the wine Botani Moscatel Seco 2022 was fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 7 months on lees.

We suggest that you drink this white wine from Málaga at a temperature of 6-7ºC in order to preserve its gentle, mildly sweet character.

Pair this white wine aged on lees with fish recipes.

Appearance

The wine Botani Moscatel Seco is medium yellow with some greenish tinges.

Nose

This is an intense and suggestive Moscatel white wine. The floral aromas are more prominent than in previous vintages, and we also find notes of yellow fruit, quince, strawberry tree and white flowers. There are also suggestions of aromatic herbs, and some dim mineral undertones.

Palate

This white wine of Jorge Ordóñez has an unctuous body which, at the same time, is almost weightless. Remarkably fresh, with remembrances of underbrush, citrus and dry earth. Long finish with a salty and herbal touch

Our personal opinion

Extremely versatile, the wine Botani Moscatel Seco 2022 will pair well with marinated fish - think of a ceviche - and all kinds of exotic dishes.
