Bodegas Martúe
A producer of “Vinos de Pago” in the heart of Castilla-La Mancha.
Founded by Mr. Fausto González at the beginning of the XXIst century, Bodegas Martúe is located in La Guardia de Toledo, a 81-hectare domain 60 km from the city of Toledo, in the Castilla-La Mancha region. In 2009, the estate was granted its own designation of origin, DO Pago Campo La Guardia, a distinction that has hitherto been granted to only 15 wineries in Spain.
The first 30 hectares of vineyards were planted by Bodegas Martúe winery in 1990 in Finca Campo Martuela. With the exception of Tempranillo, the winery grows only international varieties; specifically, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Syrah. A decade later, in 2000, a further 51 hectares were planted in Finca El Casar. Besides the aforementioned varieties, the winery also planted Malbec and some Chardonnay. The debut vintage was 2001, and the construction of the winemaking facility was finished in 2002.
In 2009, Martúe winery acquired Bodegas y Viñedos Nieva, a famed produced of white wines from DO Rueda. The red wines are thus sols under the Martúe label, and the white wines under the Bodegas y Viñedos Nieva brand.
Sold under the Denominación Origen Pago Campo de La Guardia seal, the red wines of Bodegas Martúe winery are typically made from international varieties, with Syrah playing the key role.
