Mas de les Pereres
The personal wine project of Dirk Hoet, a Belgian smitten with the Priorat region.
Native to the Turnhout region of Belgium, Mr. Dirk Hoet spent some years searching for the ideal place to produce great wines before settling in Catalonia. After exploring several regions in Italy and the south of France, in 1999 he decided to start his personal wine project in Poboleda, in the Priorat region, where soon after he founded Celler Mas de les Pereres.
A perfectionist by nature, Mr. Hoet's approach to winegrowing and winemaking is very meticulous, with fanatical attention to detail and complete control of all the wine producing stages. His conception of viticulture has been highly influenced by the Italian oneologist Fiammetta Inga, from Umbria, and by the oenologist Jean Natoli, the current head winemaker of Celler Mas de les Pereres.
The grape varieties grown by Celler Mas de les Pereres are local, like Grenache, Carignan, White Grenache and Muscat, and international, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. All bear the mark of the characteristic llicorella (slate) soils of the region, which bring a unique personality to the wines.
From vineyard to bottle, everything Mr. Hoet does is aimed at crafting elegant and terroir-driven wines true to their land of origin.
