Produced by Dominio de Tares, the wine Baltos Mencía is a varietal Mencía red wine made from over 40-year-old vines located in the village of Cabanelas, near Valtuille de Abajo, in the heart of DO Bierzo.
Grown in soils with a high ferrous content, the grapes were harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed. Then this Spanish red wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks. During the process, gentle pump-overs were performed in order to enhance skin contact, thus allowing for a mild extraction of aromas and tannins.
After that, the wine Baltos Mencía 2022 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 4-6 months in French oak barrels. The wine was clarified, but not filtered prior to its bottling. Finally, it was aged for 12 months before its commercial release.
We suggest that you drink this red wine from El Bierzo at a temperature around 14ºC.
