A high-altitude Spanish red wine produced by Celler Batlliu de Sort, the wine Biu de Sort Negre is made from vineyards perched at 850 metres above sea level, in the region of Pallars Sobirà (Lleida), northwestern Catalonia.
A varietal Pinot Noir from DO Costers del Segre, the grapes are sourced from a single estate, called finca Barreiró, located in an area that, despite the altitude, has a rather benign climate.
Fermented in 23 hl stainless steel tanks with frequent punch-downs and pump-overs, this red wine from Costers del Segre subsequently completed malolactic fermentation in the same deposits.
Finally, the wine Biu de Sort Negre 2024 was aged in the tanks for a period of 10 months.
This is a varietal high-altitude red wine with a definitely Atlantic character.

| Our personal opinion | An unlikely Pinot Noir from the Catalan Pyrenées, the wine Biu de Sort Negre 2024 is nevertheless an excellent one. |
