Product Description
Details

One of the interesting features of Botani Garnacha is that it was the first varietal Grenache Spanish red wine made in the remote area of the Málaga mountains.

The vines are 25 years old on average. Planted in clay and slime soils at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level, they are located near the colorful town of Ronda.

As for the farming procedures, the Jorge Ordóñez winery is in the process of obtaining the organic certification.

Harvested by hand, the grapes of this red wine from Málaga were selected and fermented in stainless steel tanks under the careful supervision of Alistair Gardner, chief oenologist, and José Luis Chueca, winemaker of Bodegas Alto Moncayo and Bodegas Breca.

After that, Botani Garnacha 2019, produced in the DO Sierras de Málaga, was aged for some time in the tanks.

Wisely, this red wine from Málaga saw no oak in order to keep its youthful, lively character intact.

Appearance

The wine Botani Garnacha has a very bright, clean, intense cherry colour with a ruby rim.

Nose

Deep, rich aromas of red fruit, typical of a varietal Grenache, enhanced by aromas of liquorice, balsam, violet. On the background, this young red wine suggests some dim smokey nuances and hints of spices and dry earth.

Palate

Fresh and well-balanced, this wine of Bodega Jorge Ordóñez has a crisp acidity and a round, smooth body. Loads of red fruit, juicy and fresh, underpinned by some elegant mineral notes and touches of balsam and underbush. Long, pleasant finish.

Our personal opinion

A very interesting wine from a little-know area of beautiful Andalusia, the characterful and expressive Botani Garnacha 2019 deserves a try.

good garnacha
Value
Fruit-driven and powerful, with good mountain freshness to counterbalance it.
