Dominio De Atauta 2021
For several reasons, the wine Dominio de Atauta is a truly singular Spanish red wine from Ribera del Duero.
First, this Crianza red wine is made from high-altitude Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines perched at altitudes between 980 and 1,050 metres.
Second, all of the vines, scattered over more many little plots, are over 60 years old. Some of them, over 140 years of age, are prephylloxeric.
Harvested at dusk, the grapes were cooled in the cellar, destemmed and macerated at a low temperature for 24 hours.
After completing alcoholic fermentation in 5,000-litre oak vats, the wine Dominio de Atauta 2021 was transferred into French oak barrels (15% new), where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for over a period of 14 months. After that, it was aged for a further 5 months in French oak vats.
The 58,494 bottles produced were bottled in June 2023.
We suggest that you decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero of the Dominio de Atauta winery at least 30 minutes before drinking.
