Mascaró is a winery with a great and long tradition of producing distilled liquors, especially Brandies.
This Brandy is crafted in part from the same traditional Mediterranean wines crafted by this winery of traditional Penedés varietals. Each varietal is distilled separately following the “Charentails” double distillation method. The distilled wine is known as Holandas. Each distinct Holandas is aged in French oak barrels filled to 79 Gallons (300 Liters) and aged for a minimum of 8 years. After the aging process has been completed, the final coupage is realized with all of its unique parts.
This Brandy from the Penedès has a very attractive appearance or bright amber with golden highlights. The nose is overwhelmed by intense aromatics that this Brandy gained from its unique aging. This gives us fine woods that are entwined with a wide range of diverse and bold spices that tingle the nose and appear slightly sweet. The passage is very long, pleasant, and elegant. This is a full-bodied brandy. The intense wood from the nose follows into the palate full of cream, with spicy notes that are more present, with nuts and bakery notes. Everything is very well-balanced. Great persistency and a very pleasant finish.
We would recommend trying this Brandy from a Brandy glass and we enjoy drinking this wine among friends and during conversations, especially after-dinner conversations. This Brandy is meant to be enjoyed slowly.
This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest Brandies in the world at this price range.
