Vinícola Real

A distinguished producer of aged Riojas.
Founded in 1992 by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, bodega Vinícola Real has its headquarters in Albelda de Iruega, a village in the Rioja Oriental sub-region located 13 km south of Logroño, the capital city of La Rioja.
The vineyards of bodega Vinícola Real cover a surface area of roughly 55 hectares, divided into three areas. The biggest is in Rioja Oriental, between the villages of Albela de Iruega and Nalda, where the winery has 40 hectares of vineyards with mostly clay soils. The other two are in the Rioja Alta sub-region; one in San Vicente de la Sonsierra – 3 hectares of limestone soils – and one in Alto Najerilla – around 11 hectares.
Committed to preserving Rioja’s rich viticultural heritage, the Vinícola Real winery grows only traditional Rioja varieties. The main red varieties are Tempranillo, Graciano, Grenache and the recently recovered Maturana Tina. The most important white varieties are Viura, Malvasía and White Grenache.
The wine portfolio of the Vinícola Real-200 Monges winery, whose debut vintage was 1994, is solely comprised of aged Rioja wines. After being vinified and aged for a substantial period of time in oak vats and oak barrels, the wines of Vinícola Real are kept in the cellar for several years before they hit the market. The red wine 200 Monges Reserva is a compelling illustration of the house style.
