Year after year, the wine Baltasar Gracián proves to be one of the absolute best values in Spain. This wine rose to stardom when, some years ago, Robert Parker said that this Spanish red wine was one of the best values he had ever tasted.
A varietal Grenache, the wine Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas Mágnum is made from 60 to 80-year-old vineyards located in the rugged, mountainous region of Calatayud.
The vineyards, which sit at 1,100 metres above sea level, have slate soils. Climate is harsh, with severe winters and extremely hot summers.
Produced by Bodegas San Alejandro, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After that, the wine Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas Mágnum 2022 was aged for 12 months in French oak foudres and 50 hl vats. Then this Crianza red wine was naturally clarified and stabilized. Finally, the wine was aged for some months in the bottle.
Decant this red wine from Calatayud 30 minutes before drinking.
