The wine Cantos de Valpiedra is the entry-level wine of Finca Valpiedra, a winery founded in 1994 by the Martínez Bujanda family from La Rioja.
The company belongs to the exclusive "Grandes Pagos de España" association ("Spain's Great Estates").
Made solely from Tempranillo, this red wine from La Rioja is produced from young vines planted in sandy-limestone soils covered with pebble stones on a bend of the Duero river, at 400 metres of altitude.
Harvested in late September, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After that, Cantos de Valpiedra 2018 was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Finally, this Vino de Pago was aged for some months in the bottle before its release onto the market.
