The wine Dominio de Atauta Dos Fincas aims to capture the spirit of two exceptional plots located in Valle Atauta, a world-class terroir sitting at 900+ metres of altitude, in the heart of DO Ribera del Duero.
Made solely from Tinto Fino, this Spanish red wine is sourced from the two best vineyards of bodega Dominio de Atauta, La Roza Grande and San Juan Valle. Composed of sandy soils, they are planted with 150 to 160-year-old vines (!!). Vineyard management follows the guidelines of biodynamic agriculture.
The vinification process of this red wine from Ribera del Duero was carried out in 1,000-litre French oak vats. The grapes were fully destemmed, cold macerated and fermented with two daily pump-downs. After completing a spontaneous malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, the red wine Dominio de Atauta Dos Fincas 2021 was aged for 13 months in French oak barrels (15% new), after which the best batches were further aged in 2nd year barrels for a 9 months. The wine was bottled unfined in December 2023.
It is essential to decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
