Produced in the southeastern Spanish region of Jumilla, the wine El Nido is the result of the joint venture between Juan Gil and famed Australian winemaker Chris Ringland from Barossa Valley.

This high-end Spanish red wine is a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon coming from 40 to 50-year-old vines, and 70% Monastrell, sourced from 75-year-old vineyards.

Harvested manually and brought to the cellar in little boxes, alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

After that, the red wine El Nido 2022 was transferred into new French and American oak barrels, where this Crianza red wine completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 23 months.

This organic and vegan wine has a tremendous intensity and complexity, so we recommend that you decant this red wine from Jumilla at least 2 hours before you drink it.

More Information
Appearance The red wine  El Nido is deep purple with a violet-bluish hue at the rim.

Nose

Intense, as one might expect, but with a surprising amount of intricacy and detail. Blackberries and boysenberries, remembrances of tree bark, violets and dry earth. There is also an immensely rich spicy background, with some smoky hints, a note of bitter cocoa, and a tip of Havanna cigars. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell is amazingly powerful and richly layered.

Palate

Smooth, fresh and imposingly deep, this wine of Bodegas El Nido is arguably a notch better than previous vintages. Fresh and compact, with exceptional acidity and luscious palate. Though it is undoubtedly a ripe and big-boned wine, oak is better integrated than ever, with fantastic balance and impressive focus. Long finish, with some toasted and spicy remembrances.

Our personal opinion

The impressive wine El Nido 2022 proves that boldness can go hand in hand with elegance.
