Produced by Celler Espelt, the wine Espelt Terres Negres is born in the rugged, windswept region of L'Empordà, a northern Catalan region bordering France.
This blended Spanish red wine is made from Carignan and a smattering of Lledoner Negre (aka Grenache), sourced from 60 to 80-year-old vines grown in slate and granite soils.
Manually harvested at their optimal ripening state, the grapes were gently crushed and fermented for 22 days with the skins. After that, this red wine from Empordà went through malolactic fermentation.
Then the red wine Espelt Terres Negres 2021 was aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barrels and 2,000-litre oak vats.
Finally, this organic red wine was bottled and aged for some months before being commercially released.
Decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.

Delicious notions of cassis and blackberries, deep mineral undertones, some touches of Mediterranean garrigue, and a hint of toast and vanilla. Smooth, ripe tanins and long, balsamic finish. |
| Our personal opinion | Definitely not a showcase of Mediterranean bombast, the wine Espelt Terres Negres 2021 has some intricacy and inner drama. This is a remarkable value with a good ageing potential. |
