Details
Produced by Francisco Barona, a prestigious winemaker from DO Ribera del Duero, Francisco Barona is a quite remarkable Spanish red wine.
It is mostly made from very old-vines Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), sourced from Grand Cru level vineyards up to 110 years old, complemented with Grenache, the native white variety Albillo and other varieties indigenous to the region.
Harvested in late September and at the beginning of October, the grapes were vinified with the utmost care using minimal intervention techniques. Alcoholic fermentation of this red wine from Ribera del Duero occurred spontaneously in diposits, and it was followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation, this time in new French oak barrels.
After that, the red wine Francisco Barona 2021 was aged for 12 months in the barrels. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered in February 2022.
This premium Crianza red wine should evolve nicely in the bottle.
