Details

A worthy effort from bodega El Grillo y la Luna, Hop Hop is made from an equal blend of Grenache and Syrah.

The grapes are sourced from estate-owned vineyards with limestone and clayey soils situated at altitudes from 300 to 450 metres, in DO Somontano.

Hand-harvested and refrigerated on arriving at the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and selected twice before being vinified in 40 hl French oak vats. The process was started with a 5-day cold soak, after which this Spanish red wine went through alcoholic fermentation, during which the solid skin cap was periodically pumped down to enhance the extraction of tannin and colour.

Once malolactic fermentation was completed, this Crianza red wine was macerated for 30 days with the lees and the skins.

Finally, Hip Hop 2018 was aged for 13 months in French oak barrels, with periodic stirrings of the lees over the first 5 months.

Pair this red wine from Somontano with game dishes and roast recipes.

Serious wine with nice potential to grow in the bottle. Picture a combination of northern and southern Rhone with an earthy twist.
