Product Description

This young Spanish red wine is made from two quintessentially Mediterranean grapes, Garnacha Tintorera-or, as it is known outside Spain, Alicante Bouschet-and Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre).

Produced by Bodegas Atalaya in DO Almansa-a hot, dry area in Southeast Spain-Laya comes from vineyards with limestone soils sitting at altitudes between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level.

Each variety was carefully harvested and separately vinified. This red wine from Almansa was fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

After that, Laya 2021 was aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.

This wine remains a stunning value year after year.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The red wine Laya is medium purple with a violet rim.

This blend of Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell carries fresh aromas of red fruits, along with notes of burnt sugar, chocolate, spices and tobacco.

This wine of Bodegas Laya is smooth and crisp. Medium-bodied, fresh and full of ripe fruit. Good acidity, nice tannins and long, fruity finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

The lively Laya 2021 is more complex than one might think. A fully enjoyable Mediterranean red from the Gil family.
