Product Description
Details

The well-known Marqués de Murrieta winery produces this Spanish red wine from grapes sorted from Finca Ygay.

Made from a traditional blend, the main component of Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is Tempranillo, complemented with the high-acidic Graciano, Mazuela (Carignan) and Grenache.

Located in the heart of La Rioja, the Finca Ygay estate comprises 300 hectares of vineyards at altitudes between 320 and 485 metres above sea level, with different soil compositions and sun orientations.

Manually harvested, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed. Then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks with periodic pump-overs and puch-downs.

After that, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2019 was aged for 24 months in American oak barrels.

Finally, this red wine from La Rioja was aged for some months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.

We suggest that you decant this Reserva red wine for 30 minutes to appreciate its full potential.

Appearance

The wine Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is medium purple with a ruby rim.

Nose

Intense and elegant, this blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuela and Grenache exhibits some aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, some spicy hints of pepper, some touches of smoke and some creamy notions.

Palate

Smooth and savoury, this reserva of Marqués de Murrieta also displays a certain sharpness which is very rewarding. The fruit is very pure, and it is nuanced by spices, cocoa and underbrush. Crunchy tannins, lively acidity, and long finish with some remebrances of balsam and toast.

Our personal opinion

An all-time classic Rioja red wine, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2019 is as fresh and enjoyable as usual.

After giving it much thought, I have come to the conclusion that it is always a good idea to store one or two cases of Murrieta in the home cellar, just in case some friends turn out unexpectedly...
