Product Description
Details

This is the new vintage of the wine Mauro - crafted, as always, by the prestigious winemaker Mariano García, head of Bodegas Mauro.

This well-known Spanish red wine from Castilla y León was produced from 85% Tempranillo and 15% Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Graciano.

Selected in the vineyard and in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and separately vinified according to the variety and plot of origin. Alcoholic fermentation of this red wine took place in big stainless steel tanks and was followed by a 2 to 3 week skin maceration.

Then it was transferred into French oak barrels and French oak vats of different ages, where the wine Mauro 2022 was aged for 16 months.

This exquisite Crianza red wine was was bottled in April 2024 and aged for a few months in the cellar prior to being commercially released.

We suggest that you decant red wine from Castilla y León 1 hour before you drink it.

Additional Information
Appearance

The red wine Mauro is deep ruby with a violet rim.

Nose

Superbly elegant, this blend of Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Graciano smells of fresh red berries and black fruit, nuanced by some balsamic and spicy notes. There is a deep terroir imprint, with hints of wet earth, undergrowth, moss and black truffles. Classy and complex.

Palate

This red wine from Bodegas Mauro is layered, savoury and information-rich. Ripe berries, with a dash of blue flowers, scrubland, smoke and some mineral undertones. There is a real sense of terroir here. Exceptional acidity, with fine-grained tannins and a very long finish.

Our personal opinion

A modern classic from Castilla y León, the wine Mauro 2022 is more pleasurable than ever. Once again, Mariano García has done an outstanding job.

Great wine
Value
Mauro ranks very high on my top Spanish wines list. This is a wine for the future, though. Now it feels agonizingly young. Put it to sleep and do not wake it before 5 years.
