Nuncito 2016
Though it may seem strange - considering the vintage - the wine Nuncito is the entry-level Spanish red wine of Celler Mas de las Pereres, the project of Belgian Dirk Hoet in Poboleda, DOQ Priorat.
Mr. Hoet, together with winemaker Jean Natoli, made this red wine from Priorat from a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah.
The grapes are sourced from vineyards with llicorella (slate) soils farmed following non-invasive techniques.
Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, the grapes were slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. Once the process was completed, they were macerated for some weeks.
Then this wine was transferred into 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels. After that, the wine Nuncito 2016 was aged for 12 months.
After being bottled, this Crianza red wine was kept for 5+ years in the cellar (!!) before hitting the market. It is thus released nearing its absolute peak.
Decant some time before drinking.
