Palacios Remondo Propiedad 2021
Produced by Palacios Remondo, the red wine Palacios Remondo Propiedad is made mostly from Grenache, complemented with other red varieties from La Rioja.
The grapes are sourced from 100 hectares of organically farmed vineyards situated in Alfaro. They have very poor soils made of clay, limestone and pebble stones. Interestingly, that composition is quite similar to the famed "galets roulées" terroir from Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Harvested at dusk, the grapes were meticulously selected and fully destemmed prior to being fermented. Alcoholic fermentation of this Spanish red wine took place in wooden vats with periodic pump-overs and punch-downs. The process lasted 28 days.
Then Palacios Remondo Propiedad 2021 completed malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.
Finally, it was aged for 13 months in half new and half 2nd year French oak barrels. This organic red wine was not fined or filtered before its bottling.
