Product Description
Details

This is the new vintage of Petit Pittacum of Bodegas Pittacum. A varietal Mencía, this Spanish red wine is made from vines planted in clayey soils in DO Bierzo.

Manually harvested and selected, the grapes were destemmed and fermented uncrushed in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature, with frequent punch-downs and pump-overs.

After that, Petit Pittacum 2022 went straight into the bottle. Thus, it saw no oak at any stage of the winemaking process.

This is a fresh, straightforward red wine from El Bierzo.

Pair with BBQ'd meat.

Appearance

The wine Petit Pittacum is pale purple with a reddish rim.

Nose

This young Mencía smells of raspberries, cranberries and wild strawberries, with some herbal remembrances, and hints of laurel, lqucorice and balsam.

Palate

This wine from Bodegas y Viñedos Pittacum has an outstanding acidity, with a delicately bitter core and remembrances of violets, red berries and wet earth. This young red wine has a pithy finish with some berryish and mineral remembrances.

Our personal opinion

A modern wine in the best sense of the term, Petit Pittacum 2022 is juicy and super smashable.
