Product Description

The 2021 vintage of Planella from the Joan d'Anguera winery is, for a change, a blend of Carignan and Grenache.

The grapes are sourced from Demeter certified vineyards with rocky soils located in Darmós, DO Montsant.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were carefully selected. Then this Spanish red wine was fermented in concrete tanks with native yeasts under controlled temperature.

After that, Planella 2021 was aged for 12-14 months in French oak barrels.

Aerate this organic red wine 30 minutes before drinking.

We suggest pairing this Crianza red wine with cold cuts and roast dinner recipes.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The wine Planella is deep ruby with a violet rim.

Deep and ever-evolving, this blend of Carignan and Grenache suggests lively aromas of bilberries, cherries and damson, with notes of citrus peel and hints of aromatic herbs, spices and bitter cocoa.

This red wine from Joan d'Anguera does not shout its virtues, but rather displays them in an understated way. It is very young, and it has lots of inner energy and considerable room for growth. Smooth tannins, very good acidity and long finish with some earthy remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Bold and deep, but not beefy, Planella 2021 is a stupendous value from Montsant.

Crisp and deep, the Carignan provides the punch, and the Syrah mellows it just enough to avoid the wine being austere.

Honestly, I don't know how the winery is able to sell wines as good as theses at such a low price. This wine dances and sings in your palate without suffocating it. It is full of vitality, full-bodied and not even in its prime.
