Product Description
Details

And uncommon Spanish red wine from DO Rías Baixas - aka Albariño country - the wine Terra de Mareas Mencía is crafted solely from Mencía grapes.

Produced by bodega Terra do Mareas do Nordes, the grapes are sourced from small parcels situated in Val do Salnés, farmed following minimal intervention and environmentally friendly techniques.

Hand-harvested and meticulously selected, the grapes were pressed whole bunch and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once the process was completed, this varietal red wine from Rías Baixas saw no wood whatsoever in order to preserve its lean and crisp character.

Before bottling, the red wine Terra de Mareas Mencía 2021 was kept for some months in the tanks.

The production of this Galician red wine is very limited.

Nose

Transparent and rather pure, this varietal Mencía carries aromas of raspberry, pomegranate and blood orange, with a note of underbrush and damp earth.

Our personal opinion

The Atlantic-sytle red wine Terra de Mareas Mencía 2019 is a little-known jewel from Green Spain.

Oh so lovely
Value
As a Mencia buff I was super thrilled to find one from Rías Baixas for the first time. Let's say that is less mineral than Bierzo's and more structured than Ribeira Sacra's. A delightful wine in any case.
