Located in Arcos de la Frontera, on the foothills of Sierra de Grazalema, within the VT Cádiz Designation, Bodega Tesalia is the personal project of Richard Golding, an Englishman enamoured with Andalusia.
Situated in a privileged area which receives the cooling influence of both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean, the grapevines are planted in poor, clayey-limestone soils, and receive a huge amount of sunlight. Growing conditions, in sum, could hardly better.
The grapes were harvested at night by hand. Once in the cellar, they were cold-macerated for 4 days to preserve their aromatic compounds. Separately vinified, alcoholic fermentation lasted about 20 days. Once the process was completed, the red wine Tesalia 2019 was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.
This is characterful Crianza red wine. Sunny, saline and subtle.
The red wine Tesalia is medium purple with a bluish rim.
This blend of Petit Verdot, Syrah, Tintilla de Rota and Cabernet Sauvignon has a very original nose. Over a mineral background, there is succulent ripe black fruit, blackberries and blackcurrants, with a distinctive herbal note, some spicy and toasted notes, and a most peculiar remembrance of incense.
Deep, juicy and extremely moreish, this wine of Bodega Tesalia shows a great balance between fruit and oak ageing. Well-defined, this red wine from Cádiz has an excellent acidity and a complexity which is still unfolding. Long finish with deep remembrances of black fruit and an elegantly bitter touch.
|Our personal opinion||
The red wine Tesalia 2019 seamlessly combines a deep Andalusian character with an international flair. Utterly captivating.
