Details

This is the new vintage of Trossos Sants, a very interesting Spanish white wine produced by Alfredo Arribas.

A varietal White Grenache, the grapes were sorted from several little vineyards (trossos) of low-yielding, over 40-year-old vines located in Montsant.

Harvested by hand in little boxes, once in the cellar the grapes were partially destemmed, crushed and drawn-off. After that, half of this Crianza white wine was fermented in 500-litre French oak barrels; the other half completed the operation in stainless steel tanks.

After that, Trossos Sants 2019 was aged for 5 months. Finally, it was blended an bottled.

We suggest that you aerate this Montsant white wine some time before drinking.

Appearance

The white wine Trossos Sants is pale yellow with some waxy tinges.

Nose

This varietal White Grenache from Montsant is complex and ever-evolving. Aromas of nuts, almonds and underbrush, nuanced by hints of white flowers, pineapple and citrus over a deep mineral background.

Palate Quite complex, though still in the developing stage, this wine from Alfredo Arribas is fresh, textured and energetic. Long finish with some smokey and bitter remembrances.

Our personal opinion

We definitely think that White Grenache is an underrated variety. If you want to know why, just try Trossos Sants 2019.

Arribas' wines are among the most elegant, Atlantic-like in Priorat. He knows how to use oak and does not overextract. This garnacha blanca is superb!
