A varietal Godello wine from DO Valdeorras, the wine Valdesil Godello - hitherto known as Valdesil Godello sobre lías - is made from an old, high-quality clone of that Galician native variety.
The first vintage of this Spanish white wine was the 1991 one. It was the first ever commercially released Spanish white wine aged on lees in diposits.
The grapes are sourced from 20 to 50-year-old vines scattered over 22 parcels with schist soils and different sun orientations. Each plot was harvested at dawn and then vinified according to its special characteristics. Then the grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed and cold-soaked for 6 hours.
Then this white wine aged on lees from Bodega Valdesil was fermented in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts.
After that, the wine Valdesil Godello 2024 was aged for 6 months on lees with periodic stirrings.
