Product Description
Details

The best-known Spanish red wine from Bodega Vetus, Vetus is born in the heart of DO Toro.

The 2019 vintage of this red wine from Toroe is made from Tinta de Toro and a small portion of Grenache, both sourced from the 20-hectare vineyard with sandy soils that surrounds the winemaking facility, located near Villabuena del Puente (Zamora), at 700 metres above sea level.

Harvested by hand, after a meticulous selection the grape bunches were destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

After that, Vetus 2019 went through  malolactic fermentation in the tanks and was aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The wine was not clarified before being bottled in April 2021.

Decant this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.

14,079 bottles produced.

Appearance

The red wine Vetus is medium purple with a garnet rim and some violet tinges.

Nose

The nose of this blend of Tinta de Toro and Grenache brings aromas of blueberries, damascena cherries and blackcurrants over a vegetal and herbal background. There are some overtones of liquorice, coffee, toast, balsam, leather and aniseed.

Palate

Pleasant and well-structured, this wine of Bodegas Vetus is ripe, juicy and fresh, with plush tannins and a crisp acidity.  Long finish with an aftertaste of liquorice, red berries, coffee and liquorice.

Our personal opinion

A modern style Toro, Vetus 2019 delivers sheer drinking pleasure.

Give me more Toro wines like this, please. Concentrated, very intense and very honest. Deeeep and, after a while, unexpectedly refined. Lots of flowers and a remembrance of dry forest.
