Edradour
Tiny Highland distillery with an artisanal approach.
Founded in 1825 near Pitlochry, in the Highland region, the Edradour distillery is one of Scotland’s smallest, with a staff of only three for a spirit production below 100,000 litres a year – roughly equivalent to the weekly production of a large distillery.
Known for its 10 year old Single Malt, a decidedly unconventional Highland Whisky much appreciated by good aficionados, the Edradour distillery sources its water from the Ben Vrackie Springs and only uses local malt. Distillation is made in a tiny still, which produces a distinctively oily, densely textured whisky.
After passing through many hands, in 2002 the Edradour distillery was acquired by the Signatory company, which expanded the core range of Single Malts, produced the first Edradour peated whisky and introduced a new range of whiskies with unconventional wood finishes, such as a Chardonnay finish and a Tokaj finish.
