Bodegas La Cana

Bodegas La Cana

Jorge Ordóñez produces some fine Albariño wines in the heart of Rías Baixas.

A staunch believer in the quality of Spain's indigenous varieties, Jorge Ordóñez created Bodegas La Cana in 2003 with the aim of producing singular white wines in Galicia.

Planted in granitic soils, the low-yielding Albariño grapevines, around 30 years of age, grow under a distinctively Atlantic climate in the midst of green Spain. In 2014, the La Cana winery built a new facility to age its flagship wine, the remarkable La Caña Navia.

The farming and winemaking operations are directed by the respected New Zealander oenologist Natalie Christensen, whose expertise has been key in building the international recognition currently enjoyed by Bodegas La Cana.

Besides Bodegas La Cana, Jorge Ordóñez owns another winery in GaliciaAvancia winery, based in the neighbouring Valdeorras. He also produces wines in several Spanish wine regions through other brands, such as Bodegas Volver in Jumilla, Bodegas Breca in Aragón and Jorge Ordóñez & Co. in Málaga. An impressive portfolio indeed!
