Bodegas Valduero

Bodegas Valduero

The wines of Bodegas Valduero are defined by their intensity and honesty.

Founded by Gregorio García Álvarez in 1984 with the aid of his daughters Yolanda and Carolina GarcíaViad ero, the winemaking philosophy of Bodegas Valduero is defined by three aspects: low-yielding estate vineyards, respect for terroir, and precision winemaking. Following these guidelines, the Valduero winery has made a name for itself in the international wine market, to the extent that most of its production is currently sold abroad.

Currently, Bodegas Valduero has 140 hectares of Tempranillo (Tinta Fina) vineyards near the villages of Gumiel de Mercado (at 800 metres of altitude) and Villanueva de Gumiel (at 900 metres of altitude). Besides, it has 12 hectares of Albillo Mayor, a white variety indigenous to the Ribera del Duero region with real potential for producing world-class white wines.

The wines of Bodegas Valduero winery are characterized by an unmistakably local character, a great structure, a remarkable acidity and an impressive cellaring potential. The Valduero wine portfolio is comprised almost entirely of varietal Tinta Fina wines, including Crianzas, Reservas, Gran Reservas and single vineyard wines. The Valduero winery makes only white wine, Valduero Albillo, a varietal wine aged on lees made from Albillo Mayor, the only white variety authorized by the DO Ribera del Duero regulatory board.
