Dom Pérignon

The legend of Champagne.
The legendary Dom Pérignon winery was named after Dom Pierre Pérignon, a monk born in 1638 in the Champagne region that became chef de cave of the Hautvillers Abbey in the year 1668. Contrary to popular belief, Dom Pérignon did not invent Champagne. However, he was responsible for introducing some key innovations at different stages of the winemaking process, such as mastering blending techniques, the development of new pruning methods and the use of thicker glass bottles and cork stoppers.
The rise of the Dom Pérignon brand to the pinnacle of world luxury began in the early XXth century, when Maison Moët & Chandon decided to make a special cuvée named after the illustrious monk. The debut vintage of Dom Pérignon was 1921, which was not released to the market until 1936. In the 1950s, the Dom Pérignon Champagnes were served at official receptions and royal banquets around the world. In 1971, a bottle of 1921 Dom Pérignon was sold for record price at Christie's London.
A paragon of old-world refinement, the Dom Pérignon winery crafts only vintage Champagnes of unparalleled precision, elegance and ageing potential. The grapes are sourced from 1,000 hectares of vineyards spread across the AOC Champagne, including sobre of the best Crus in the region. The land is tended following environmentally sustainable techniques. It is worth mentioning that the catalogue of Maison Dom Pérignon includes a series of special-edition Champagnes made in collaboration with world-renowned artists and celebrities, resulting in uniquely packaged bottles that are true collector's items.
